Join artist-in-residence Michael Rippens for the Care Talk Radio Show celebrating his project; Care Talk, an interactive storytelling project that amplifies the voices of caregivers working on the front-lines of a global pandemic.

The Care Talk Radio Show will air as two radio shows on Sunday, January 10th, and Sunday, January 24th from 12 pm-1 pm PST in collaboration with dublab, an L.A.-based non-profit radio station. Rippens will share caregiver recordings, conversations with in-studio guests, and questions and comments from listeners who call the station.

The public is invited to listen to these shows through dublab's online radio show that broadcasts through the Dublab website.

En Movimiento Celebration

Join Artist-In-Residence Jose Richard Aviles for an En Movimiento Celebration on Saturday, December 5th at 7pm PST! Attendees are invited to a screening of Tio Metro and El Camino De Vermont, video pieces that share a documentation of Jose Richard’s engagement with public transit riders and pedestrians along Vermont Ave in South Central Los Angeles.

For the event, Jose Richard will also be hosting "People, Performance, and Place", a workshop that explores the relationship between performance, community engagement, and urban planning. All culminating in a Q&A.

"re(VISION)s": Residency Informational Meeting

Residency Informational Meeting

Saturday, October 17th from 3 pm- 4:30 pm PST, we are hosting an information session via Zoom to answer application questions for re(VISION)s, SSP’s upcoming  2021 Artist Residencies program.  A recording of the meeting will be made available on the Side Street website. One-on-one support for applicants that cannot make the meeting will be available via appointment. Email este@sidestreet.org to schedule an appointment.

We are accepting artist proposals for our 2021 Artist Residencies program. This year’s theme is re(VISION)s. SSP offers a three-month residency for artists to develop a community-engaged art project around the theme of re(VISION)s. The residency will take place between February 2021 and June 2021 based on the availability of Applicants. Applications are due on Sunday, November 15th at 11:59 pm PST.
