Nakagawa embarked on Phase Three (2022-2024) of the project earlier this year proposing five new projects. Of the four, the Raku Full Moon Project will take place in two sessions:
Ceramic Workshop
Full Moon Raku Tea Project
Ceramic Workshop: Session one will consist of the making of ceramic bowls by the community on Friday, December 9, 2022, from 6 pm - 8 pm, at the Pasadena Buddhist Temple. Award Winning Ceramicist, Wayne Perry, will guide participants in a hand-built technique to develop a tea bowl.
Full Moon Raku Tea Project: Session two will consist of an afternoon Raku firing of the bowls at Green and Bisque in Pasadena. Then in the evening Friday, January 6, 2023, from 6 pm - 8 pm, the Raku Full Moon Project (Jose Salcedo) will take place with live traditional Koto Music (Hiroko Masuda and June Chin) and Experimental Soundscapes (Nakagawa with Zoe Kumagai) at the Pasadena Buddhist Temple.
