Fe Love: A Compassionate Cure to Climate Chaos

July 2019 Artist-in-Residence, Felecia Lenee (also known as Fe Love) hosted “A Compassionate Cure to Climate Chaos”. During the course of her residency, Fe Love brought together healers, artists and community members to explore the injustices people of color experience in our social and environmental climate. 

As part of her residency, Fe Love hosted a series of free and family-friendly workshops at the Arlington Garden in Pasadena. Each Saturday in July (10am-1pm), participants connected with local artists and “safety and justice” experts using creative experiments and compassionate conversations holding space for the traumas people of color endure living in today’s tumultuous world.  

Culminating in the Closing Celebration at The Alkebulan Cultural Center on July 27th (4pm-7pm), Felecia portrayed "Mother Earth" in an interactive performance, in which attendees were invited to share ideas, make videos testimonials and create a space that inspires compassion, prosperity, love and healing energy - so that “Mother Earth” could recover.

Organized by artist Felecia “Fe Love” Lenee. “A Compassionate Cure to Climate Chaos” was the third project in “Nourished” . “Nourished” was a curatorial project inspired by Dominique Moody’s “Our Garden of Dreams,” a mobile community garden completed at the end of 2018. Artists and cultural workers were asked to engage with the theme of nourishment over the course of a one month residency culminating in workshops and an exhibition of work intended to nourish the body, creativity, nature, identity, and community.
