Shop Talk: Katie Grinnan

A conversation wiKatie Grinnan is an artist living and working in Los Angeles. She is represented by ACME. gallery in Los Angeles and has exhibited her work at the Whitney Museum in New York, MOCA in Los Angeles, the MAK Center in Los Angeles, and Modern Art Oxford in the UK.  She attended Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, and received her M.F.A. from U.C.L.A.

Her sculptures and installations use hybrid techniques, borrowing from photography and approaching sculpture from an expanded field. Combining photography and sculpture allows social, psychological, imagined, physical, and visual space to exist simultaneously while spotlighting the incongruities between the structure and surface of an object.
