Freewaves: Lions, Tigers, And...

October 9, 2015 (ArtNight) & 10 through March 2016

Lions, Tigers, And…, was an interactive sound installation with opening and closing musical performances and video projections that took place at the Pasadena City Hall from October 2015-March 2016. 1000 interpretations of the building's facade’s lions were elicited from the public and presented at the closing in March. The collaborative, accumulative piece was produced by Freewaves and created by Anne Bray, Inouk Demers, Daniel Garcia, Robert Hilton, Vera Makianich, Gayle Nicholls-Ali, John Muir High School Drumline, Hands On’Semble, Rasheed Ali, and various drum circles.

Drummers and Drum Circle Devotees joined international recording artist Rasheed Ali for a healing drum circle at Pasadena City Hall on Saturday, November 14, 2015. Drummers of all kinds wanted to gather people together and create a ROAR. A sound installation filled the outdoor courtyard but sought live accompaniment for the building’s silent facade.
