This was our third SkillShare of the year which was a series of eco-friendly workshops that explored ways to build creative and usable spaces from our local environments that combine nature, trash, and recycled disposables! We highlighted the many benefits of native plantings offering histories and understandings of local, indigenous ecologies.

Artist K. Bradford built a plastic bottle greenhouse on site and led a workshop on creative upcycling strategies. Artist Tracee Johnson led a workshop focused on tactical urbanism and how small changes to our urban environment can improve neighborhood gathering spaces. La Loba Loca facilitated a Native Plant workshop highlighting native plantings as a means for re)claiming and (re)membering Abuelita Knowledge. Jack Rabbitt held an upcycled lampshade making workshop where the participant learned to weld. Participants walked away with fun and useful resources and techniques to put into practice in their own home and neighborhood. All workshops included hands-on, DIY learning; come prepared to get dirty!
